Collaboration with Bibhu Mohapatra - Spring '15 Runway Show

We partnered with designer Bibhu Mohapatra to send two of our favorite styles down the runway at his Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear show at Lincoln Center. The streamlined leather bags paired perfectly with the lady-like silhouettes and complemented the designer’s palette of pastels, blues & black and white jacquard. We also created custom black and white versions of our signature MAGA and GALA styles.  These bags were constructed of Mohapatra’s silk and leather fabric hand woven in Laos.

Capsule Collection for Shop Latitude

Inspired by the sensorial experience of Mexico’s food, color, architecture and history, we created a vibrant capsule collection for SHOP LATITUDE launching today. We found our muse for the collection in Rebeca’s native Mexico.  "It’s a very rich culture.  Our crafts and artisans are truly magnificent.  The arts of these masters define their history, their ancestry and it really changes from state to state, from town to town. Every time I go back home, I feel re-charged and re-inspired. Its food for the soul."

We chose to work with beautiful handmade textiles from San Andrés Larráinzar in the Chiapas area of Mexico where the Tsotsil community has families of artisans that carry special weave patterns over multiple generations.  We crafted these textiles into three modern handbag styles. Each style features colorful prints trimmed in black leather with tassel pulls and oversized zippers.

The right hide at the right time can change lives. Such an encounter led to accessories design consultants Ryan Clements and Rebeca Mendoza launching their own bag line, Rye. "We found an amazing leather and we couldn't really use it for anything that we were working on at the moment, so we decided to buy it and make something just for fun," Rebeca told us of the accidental birth of their line. "We came up with an idea, made it, and friends started asking about the bag. We decided to make a few variations, and before we knew it, we were building a collection"...
